What is involved in the treatment?
A traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) treatment involves the use of modalities such as acupuncture, herbs, moxibustion and dietary therapy.

The acupuncture needles are very fine and disposable. Our TCM practitioners use a gentle, light, technique. That is why people come back!

Raw herbs are already boiled and freeze dried and therefore can be conveniently taken in granule form. We also stock a large range of Chinese herbs in pill form.

What are some of the health problems treated?
Both acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine treat health complaints of all kinds. This is achieved through an ancient sophisticated system of analysing and categorising signs and symptoms. A TCM consultation will offer an insightful diagnosis into the causes of your disease and poor health.

Many health complaints and diseases that exist today often respond more quickly to a TCM treatment than other health modalities. See Patient Stories.

Traditional Chinese medicine may also complement many medical treatments and therefore save money, time and suffering by quickly achieving better results.

Having an initial consultation is the best way to find out if your health complaint is going to respond well. If you are experiencing poor health that is not responding to medical treatment we suggest you have a traditional Chinese medicine consultation.

About the consultation
The first consultation lasts an hour and a half. The diagnosis is normally very thorough, and employs the ancient Chinese arts of pulse and tongue diagnosis, palpation and observation. The practitioner will then give an acupuncture treatment with the aim of alleviating the main symptoms and correcting the cause of the health problem or disease. The number of treatments needed depends on the severity of the complaint and how long it has been a problem.

The practitioner may decide to use a combination of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine as well as suggest dietary and lifestyle changes. To understand this fully one needs to experience a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) diagnosis and treatment.
