IVF is one of the most physically and emotionally demanding journeys a person can undertake. Here's how acupuncture integrates with your IVF protocol to support your wellbeing.
IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) is a significant step for many individuals and couples on their fertility journey. At Rozelle Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Centre, we understand that this process can be both physically and emotionally taxing. Our IVF support program integrates acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine to complement your medical treatments and support your wellbeing throughout the process.
Research published in Fertility and Sterility has examined acupuncture performed on the day of embryo transfer, both before and after the procedure. Some systematic reviews suggest acupuncture may support uterine receptivity, help manage stress-related cortisol levels, and support blood flow to the endometrium. Results across studies vary, and acupuncture is used as a complementary approach alongside your medical team's IVF protocol.
Our IVF support protocol typically begins 8–12 weeks before egg collection. This preparation phase focuses on supporting egg quality, cycle regularity, and uterine lining health. We use specific acupuncture protocols aligned with each stage of your stimulation cycle.
During the stimulation phase, we work to support follicular development and manage the side effects of hormonal medication, including bloating, mood fluctuations, and fatigue. Around egg collection and transfer, we use specific protocols designed to support uterine receptivity and reduce cramping.
In the two-week wait and into the first trimester, we continue with weekly sessions focused on reducing anxiety, supporting progesterone levels, and maintaining the uterine environment.
We work in close communication with your fertility specialist and IVF clinic, and we welcome any existing medical information you can share with us at your first appointment.
