Maria Cappello
Registered Acupuncturist & Chinese Medicine Herbalist
Maria's fascination with Traditional Chinese Medicine started over 15 years ago as a patient at the clinic. After a personal journey through unexplained infertility and IVF, she pursued a Bachelor of Health Science in Chinese Medicine at UTS and trained under RACM founder Jann Mehmet.
Maria is currently enrolled with the Australian Doula College, completing her Doula Training to further enhance the support and guidance she provides to fertility patients, pregnancy and post-partum care.
Her clinical focus includes fertility (male and female), IVF support, PCOS, endometriosis, menstrual disorders, menopause, pregnancy support, musculoskeletal conditions, chronic pain, sleep disorders, and cosmetic facial rejuvenation.

Founder & Former Director
Jann Mehmet founded the Rozelle Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Centre in 1988. She practised Traditional Chinese Medicine at RACM for 30 years before retiring from clinical practice in Sydney in December 2018.
Jann continues to serve as a supportive mentor of the RACM team. In May 2006, she completed a randomised clinical trial on sub-fertile men, contributing to the evidence base for Traditional Chinese Medicine in reproductive health.
Bernice Lowe
Acupuncturist & Chinese Medicine Practitioner
Bernice earned her Bachelor of Health Science in Acupuncture from UTS in 1999 and completed a postgraduate certificate in Manaka Japanese acupuncture protocols in 2002. She regularly studies advanced techniques with Japanese acupuncture master Sensei Kiiko Matsumoto.
Her career in Oriental therapies began in 1991 as a Shiatsu practitioner. Bernice has also worked as a whole-foods chef, instructed Traditional Chinese Medicine remedial massage at UTS, and trained in Tai Chi, Iyengar Yoga, and Bowen therapy, bringing a deeply holistic approach to her practice.
With over 14 years in Sydney's inner west, Bernice specialises in reproductive health. In 2008, she established an acupuncture clinic within The Royal Hospital for Women's Endo-Gynaecology Department in Randwick. She currently maintains clinics in both Sydney and Canberra.
A Legacy of Care
Rozelle Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Centre was founded by Jann Mehmet in 1988. For over three decades, the clinic has been a trusted part of the Rozelle community, providing evidence-based Chinese medicine care.
The clinic has contributed to clinical research, including a 2006 randomised clinical trial on sub-fertile men led by the former Director. This commitment to evidence-based practice continues under Maria Cappello's leadership.
