An Honest, Evidence-Informed Approach

A Collaborative, Clinical Focus

We stay up-to-date with clinical trials and meta-analyses. Here is honestly how acupuncture fits into pain and wellness management.

What we focus on

Reducing pain and muscular tension, improving range of movement, and calming an over-sensitised nervous system. For migraines and sleep, we look at the patterns behind the symptom, not just the symptom itself.

The whole-body picture

Sleep, stress, digestion, and posture all feed into how pain and tension present. We treat the person, not just the site of pain, which is where Chinese medicine's whole-body view is genuinely useful.

Collaborative Integration

We work in partnership with your existing healthcare providers, including your GP, physiotherapist, or osteopath. If acupuncture is not the most appropriate path for your concern, we will discuss alternative options and refer you onward.

Our practitioners are registered under AHPRA and follow national clinical advertising guidelines, ensuring balanced, evidence-supported health communication.

Understanding Your Treatment Options

Acupuncture vs. Dry Needling

Both use fine needles, but they are different tools with different scopes. Neither is "better" — here is how they differ, so you can choose what suits your situation.

Clinical Acupuncture

A Whole-Body Care Framework

Scope

Research suggests acupuncture works in part through the nervous system. Treatment considers the local site of pain alongside the wider picture: sleep, stress, and general health patterns.

Training Pathway

Registered acupuncturists in Australia complete a four-year, AHPRA-accredited health science degree, with acupuncture as the core clinical discipline.

Technique

Ultra-fine needles placed with gentle manual techniques, often at points away from the painful area as well as locally. Most patients describe the sensation as mild and the session as relaxing.

Dry Needling

A Local Trigger Point Focus

Scope

Dry needling targets a specific muscular trigger point to release local tension. It is a focused technique, usually used as one part of a physiotherapy or osteopathy treatment plan.

Training Pathway

Practised by physiotherapists, osteopaths, and other health professionals who add needling to their own degree-qualified scope of practice through additional training.

Technique

The needle works the trigger point directly, often aiming for a brief muscle twitch response. Many people find it effective for isolated, mechanical muscle knots.

Your First Visit, Explained

Phase 01

Arrival & Intake

You arrive at a calm, unhurried space. We begin by reviewing a detailed health intake form. Allow around 90 minutes for this initial session.

Phase 02

Deep Consultation

We take a thorough history of your pain, injury history, sleep, stress, and general health, plus a physical assessment focusing on range of motion and tension.

Phase 03

Traditional Diagnosis

Using Chinese medicine diagnostic methods (including pulse and tongue assessment), we identify the constitutional patterns feeding into your symptoms.

Phase 04

Acupuncture Treatment

Fine, single-use sterile needles are gently placed. You rest comfortably for 25-35 minutes while the treatment works. Most patients find it deeply relaxing.

Phase 05

Your Way Forward

Before you leave, we explain our findings and outline a structured, honest treatment plan, including lifestyle adjustments and coordinated care with your GP or physio.

Common Questions

Straight answers to the questions we hear most before a first visit.

The needles are very fine — nothing like an injection needle. Most people feel a brief, mild sensation on insertion, sometimes a dull ache or heaviness at the point, and many find the treatment itself deeply relaxing. Our technique is gentle, and we always work within your comfort.
It depends on what we're treating and how long it's been present — there's no honest one-size answer. At your first visit we'll give you a straightforward recommendation, and we review progress together as we go rather than locking you into a long upfront plan.
Both use fine needles, but they're different tools. Dry needling is a focused technique targeting muscle trigger points, usually used by physios and osteos as one part of their treatment. Acupuncture is a complete system of assessment and treatment practised by AHPRA-registered acupuncturists with a four-year health science degree. Neither is "better" — they suit different situations, and we explain both on this page.
Yes. Acupuncture sits comfortably alongside conventional care, and we're happy to coordinate with your GP or physio. Never stop prescribed medication without talking to your doctor — our role is to complement your existing care, not replace it.
Allow around 90 minutes. We start with a detailed health intake, discuss what's been going on, and you'll receive your first treatment in the same session. Wear loose, comfortable clothing if you can. Initial consultation is $170, follow-ups $100, and health fund rebates are claimable on-site via HICAPS.
