Chronic wounds (wounds that fail to heal through normal stages of repair) represent a largely hidden but significant health challenge. At Rozelle Acupuncture, we have supported patients with deep and wide surgical wounds, weeping leg ulcers, and spreading infections that have not improved after standard medical care.
Chinese Medicine offers two specialised acupuncture techniques for treating chronic non-healing wounds: the 'Turtle Technique' and 'Circling the Dragon'. These approaches, used in combination with moxibustion, have been used with encouraging outcomes in our clinic.
Acupuncture supports wound healing by increasing local blood flow, releasing substance P and calcitonin gene-related peptide from peripheral sensory neurons, reducing inflammation, and stimulating the body's innate healing response.
We work alongside medical wound care specialists and continue to recommend standard medical intervention as the primary treatment. Our role is to complement and accelerate healing through Chinese Medicine techniques when conventional approaches are insufficient on their own.
