Recurrent Miscarriage Support

Recurrent miscarriage (defined as two or more pregnancy losses) affects approximately 1–2% of women and can be a deeply distressing experience. While some recurrent miscarriage has identifiable medical causes, a significant proportion is classified as 'unexplained.'

We want to be careful here, because this is an area where overclaiming does real harm. There is no good evidence that acupuncture or Chinese herbal medicine reduces the risk of miscarriage, and we will not suggest to you that it does. Recurrent loss warrants a proper specialist workup, and that is where answers, when there are answers, come from. If you have not had one, that is the first thing we will talk about.

What we can offer is care for the person going through it. Our approach focuses on: the anxiety, insomnia, grief and hypervigilance that recurrent loss brings, cycle symptoms and general health between pregnancies, and having a practitioner who knows your history and is not surprised by any of it. In Chinese Medicine terms, treatment is described as strengthening Kidney Qi and Jing, understood in that tradition as the foundation of reproductive capacity. That is a traditional explanatory model rather than a biomedical mechanism, and we describe it as such.

Treatment is typically provided both before conception and through the first trimester, which is when most women want it most. Point and formula selection follows Chinese Medicine pattern diagnosis. Any herbal prescription in early pregnancy is chosen for safety first, and we will not prescribe herbs in pregnancy without knowing everything else you are taking.

We work closely with your gynaecologist or fertility specialist and respect the importance of ongoing medical monitoring during this sensitive time. Our role is to complement, support, and strengthen alongside the conventional care you are receiving.
