Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), also known as photobiomodulation or cold laser therapy, is an exciting, evidence-based modality now available at Rozelle Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine Centre.
LLLT uses specific wavelengths of low-level light to stimulate a natural photobiochemical reaction within cells, similar to how sunlight supports plant photosynthesis but targeted and therapeutic. It is entirely safe, non-invasive, UV-free, and produces no heat or discomfort. Our device is FDA-cleared, CE-marked, and supported by clinical evidence.
How LLLT works: the photonic energy penetrates skin and tissue, stimulating mitochondrial activity in cells. This accelerates cellular repair and regeneration, reduces inflammation, improves local circulation, and promotes the production of collagen and elastin.
At Rozelle Acupuncture, we use LLLT in several key ways:
Cosmetic applications: used in conjunction with cosmetic acupuncture, LLLT stimulates collagen and elastin production, reducing the appearance of fine lines, improving skin tone and texture, and supporting conditions such as acne, rosacea, and hyperpigmentation.
Pain and musculoskeletal support: LLLT is supported by clinical evidence for pain relief and tissue healing. It is used for conditions including chronic pain, tendinopathies, joint inflammation, wound healing, and sports recovery.
Hair loss support: emerging research supports the use of LLLT for stimulating hair follicle activity and supporting conditions such as alopecia.
Acupuncture point stimulation: for patients who prefer a needle-free option (particularly children and needle-sensitive adults), LLLT can be used to stimulate acupuncture points with the same therapeutic effect as needles.
LLLT integrates beautifully with our existing acupuncture and Chinese Medicine protocols, offering another avenue for deep tissue healing and recovery.
